Title: Answering the Call for Mold Engineering Help with a Unique Mold Design Apprenticeship and Untapped Resources

Description:

The future of moldmaking is in part and mold design and the necessary engineering fundamentals and skilled workforce are missing. Anova has an answer, which combines a business model focused on mold design (using 3D printing and designing highly engineered systems with tight tolerances and fast cycle times, and engineering with a reliance on outsourcing to a valuable network of manufacturers) and a unique mold design and engineering apprenticeship involving the National Tooling and Manufacturing Association and a local under-resourced Erie, Pennsylvania high school. Hear the story of a workforce passion project becoming a reality as one mold builder explains his journey and shares his road map to developing an apprenticeship program that helps students in a disadvantaged school district start a technological career out of high school. Learn about the local network of experienced, ambitious manufacturing and educational professionals that helped to identify the student body with the greatest need and potential, formulate a plan and launch a mold design apprenticeship program to share industrywide.
